Blanca Moedano, Legal Assistant
Blanca joined the Vondra Law Office Team in July 2020. She previously worked in Human Resources Management, volunteered in Junior Achievement, and served in the U.S.Air Force. She is currently studying Human Resources Management at the University of Iowa. Blanca was born in Hidalgo, Mexico and is a native Spanish speaker. She is fluent in English, having spent the majority of her life in the United States. She enjoys assisting our clients and supporting them through their legal processes.
Outside of work Blanca enjoys spending time with her friends and family. She loves being active and running. She also enjoys traveling back to her home country of Mexico as much as she can, and has a weakness for chocolate. She appreciates dancing, but admits it is not one of her strengths.

Jonathan McDonnell, Attorney
Jonathan began his law practice here in Iowa on a mission. In 2013, Jonathan and his family suddenly and tragically lost their father at the hands of questionable medical practice. In the wake of that loss, Jonathan chose to pursue a law degree with the hopes that he would be able to prevent losses like the one he had suffered or to console and compensate these grieving families. Jonathan then graduated in the top portion of his class from the University of Iowa College of Law and began his practice.
While serving families across the Midwest, Jonathan has navigated pathways to victories in cases involving medical malpractice, personal injury, contractual disputes and resolutions, immigration, criminal defense, business establishment, real estate, family law, guardianships, and other civil plaintiff’s matters. Jonathan has won acquittals on challenging criminal cases, secured relief in removal cases despite significant roadblocks, and negotiated financial settlements on many cases other attorneys had declined.

Lecia Scarpellino, Paralegal
Lecia joined Vondra Law Office for the second time in June 2023, after previously working here in 2007-2008. She has worked on and off in the field of immigration law for 20 years, and is fluent in Spanish. She grew up in the Iowa City area, attending West High and Kirkwood Community College. Lecia has a passion for helping others, and enjoys getting to know the clients and working closely with them to achieve the best possible outcome for their specific case.
Outside of work, Lecia is raising her four amazing children, who keep her on her toes! Free time is a rare commodity, but she loves cooking, reading, hiking, and all kinds of music and movies.

Bryan Herran, Paralegal
Bryan Herran joined Vondra Law Office in 2023 after working for about a year in another local law firm. Bryan graduated from the University of Iowa with degrees in Communications and Criminology in 2022, and he is fluent in Spanish.

Sage Wheeler, Paralegal
Sage joined our team in 2022, shortly after graduating from the University of Iowa with degrees in Spanish and Sculpture. While in school Sage worked in a variety of teaching positions, and tutored English for Spanish speakers. Sage is fluent in Spanish and has gained hands-on experience in immigration and civil law since joining our office, he enjoys using his skills to guide our clients through their legal case. In his free time, Sage likes to make art and take hikes around Iowa.
